As part of Brisbane Open House, step inside a true Brisbane icon and experience Shingle Inn from a new perspective. In celebration of 90 years of bringing people together, we're opening our doors early for an intimate experience.Guests will be welcomed with a private presentation from one of Shingle Inn's owners, sharing the story behind the brand and its enduring connection to Brisbane since 1936. From its original beginnings in the city to becoming a much-loved part of the wider community, Shingle Inn has grown alongside Brisbane, shaped by the people, moments and flavours of each era.At the heart of it all are our bakery treats. From classic patty cakes to celebration cakes, fruit cakes and everything in between, they've long been part of special celebrations and moments of sharing at the table. In those early decades, visiting Shingle Inn reflected the customs of the time - a trip into the busy city, dressed for the occasion. Our team members were immaculately presented and service followed thoughtful rituals, with small details like the sugar bowl turned to the side once an order was complete a quiet signal that everything had been taken care of and one we still practice today. From the early days, when American WWII soldiers inspired favourites like Lemon Meringue Pie and Traditional Waffles, through to today's modern flavour influences like Dubai Chocolate and Red Velvet, our menu tells a story of tradition and evolution.Choose from a range of cake flavours, brought back from our bakery archives for the first time in years. From gourmet patty cakes to much-loved tortes, cheesecakes and classic butter cakes from decades past, exclusively for Brisbane Open House guests. This is a rare opportunity to slow down, take a seat and experience the flavours and stories that have helped shape Brisbane, one slice at a time.
