Metsän suojassa – In the Shelter of the Forest – Metsänpohja – a community artwork | Night of the Arts

At this event, you get to take part in creating a clay plaster sculpture entitled Metsänpohja (‘Forest Floor’) under the guidance of visual artist and biologist Susu Rytteri. Through our art, we will explore the relationship between humankind and the forest. Clay plaster is a building material that is simultaneously ancient and forgotten and a material of the future. Whilst engaging in the artistic work, you may learn about the health-related and environmental impacts of raw clay and forest microbe extract mixed into clay plaster. The event is suitable for participants of all ages who want to stick their hands into clay. The finished work will be featured in the In the Shelter of the Forest exhibition on display in the Kanneltalo gallery. You also have an opportunity to pet the Forest Cat at the event! The event is part of the multi-sensory In the Shelter of the Forest exhibition and event series that invites you to reflect on the future of the forest through art, science and participation.
