À propos

Kamarikesä returns to fill the historic session hall of the House of Nobility with music that tonight speaks above all of the importance of walking hand in hand, friendship, and musical winks. The festival's artistic directors are celebrating their last joint festival summer and will open the evening with Iiro Rantala's "Gigi". Felice Giardini's playful cello duo, the child prodigy of his Italian era, is followed by "The Waltz King" Johann Strauss Jr.'s Emperor Waltz. The work was originally composed to celebrate the friendship between rulers under the title "Hand in Hand", and today we will hear Arnold Schönberg's ingenious arrangement for an ensemble suitable for Chamber Summer. Spectacular interplay will be seen on stage as the recently announced patron artists Ruusu-Talvikki Heikkilä and Ellen Herler perform alongside Alli Mankkinen, who succeeded in the Turku Cello Competition, Olivia Mikkonen, who performed at the concert of the RSO's Young Soloists, and violinist Fredrika Mikkola, who studies in Paris. The hopeful and bright crown of the evening is Robert Schumann's piano quintet, which will be heard at Chamber Summer after a break of almost ten years.
