The Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple will hold its annual Obon Festival on Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26, 2026, from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. This Buddhist Celebration is a traditional religious observance that honors our ancestors. Our temple grounds will be decorated with hundreds of Manto-e lanterns for the two-day festivities. The traditional Manto-e Services will be held outside at 5:30 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, followed by Bon Odori (Japanese folk dancing). Everyone is encouraged to join in and dance. There are also a variety of foods for sale along with cultural performances throughout the day.
