À propos

The National Symphony Orchestra makes its first appearance at the Hollywood Bowl, ever, under Music Director Gianandrea Noseda, celebrating the multitudes contained within the idea of America. Peter Boyer’s American Mosaic draws influences and imagery from all 50 states. Created in collaboration with photo-historian/video artist Joe Sohm, the musical-visual work was commissioned to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary. Both Bernstein’s Candide and Gershwin’s An American in Paris bring brash American swagger and jazz-age influences to their France subjects. The evening closes with Bernstein’s beloved Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, which highlight the spectrum of popular dances, such as mambo, swing, cha-cha, and other American music.
