English Book Club

Welcome to Myyrmäki library’s English Book Club! The Book Club is open for everyone who is interested in reading books in wide spectrum and is looking for a place to meet new people with shared interests. In order to join, you don’t need to be fluent in English but it would be advisable that you’re able to read and discuss in English. The Book Club will meet every second Wednesday of the month on the following days: Aug 12: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian / Sherman Alexie Sep 9: Free: coming of age at the end of history / Lea Ypi Oct 14: Factfulness / Hans Rosling & others Nov 11: The Ministry of Time / Kaliane Bradley Dec 9: We do not part / Han Kang You can get the books from Myyrmäki Library a month before each meeting or you can reserve the titles from Helmet.fi. If you’re unable to finish the book in time, you can still join the meeting but bear in mind, there might be spoilers! There are limited amount of book club books in library collections. Please return the book you have read as soon as possible so that all participants have time to read it. The book club discussion is in English, but you can read the book in any language.
