À propos

Ella Isotalo and Dänkki Briha lead Etno-Espa through cinematic soundscapes and into futuristic and ethno-electronic folktronica. Ella’s music is cinematic and takes the listener on a journey through fascinating and varied soundscapes. In the concert, Ella plays the violin, the jouhikko (finnish bowed lyre), and the ilimba of the Wagogo (a type of thumb piano), and sings in both Finnish and Swahili. The pieces are built live, layer by layer, into a looper and they include improvisation. The Wagogo tradition, which Ella has studied in Tanzania, intertwines with her own South Ostrobothnian and Savo-Karelian roots. Ella Isotalo - violin, ilimba, jouhikko, singing 17.15 | Dänkki Briha Dänkki Briha is a trio that moves on the border of ethno-electronic and folktronica, combining experimental production, interpretations of folklore and theatrical expression. The band's second album Merjamaa release gigs will feature new songs in which pre-literary Baltic Finnic lyrics and folk song tradition merge with futuristic soundscapes. Dänkki Briha placed third in the Etno-Espa song competition 2024 with the theme Folk Song 2050. Juho Liira – vocals Matias Kontula – electric violin Manu Penttilä – production, electric guitar, ukulele, percussion, backing vocals
