Dance and nature workshops – For children aged 5–8 and their close adults

Come spend unhurried leisure time with us dancing, playing and enjoying the local nature! In these workshops, you get to explore different ways of dancing and moving in your own way, both indoors and outdoors. You get to create your own dances and put on short performances on various themes, either on your own or together with others. The workshops are instructed by dance artist and educator Jenni Koistinen and dance artist and choreographer Virva Talonen . The discussions also feature researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa. The workshops are part of the University of Helsinki’s Art of Knowing project, funded by the Kone Foundation, in which we work with researchers and dance artists to develop democratic and participatory methods in which play, embodiment and nature are important sources of knowing. For all families and adults with a child interested in nature (mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents, friends, cousins, siblings, etc.). No previous dance background or experience is required for attending the workshops. The workshops are instructed in Finnish, and we can also speak Swedish and English where necessary./// 5-8-vuotiaat ja perheet: WHERE? The workshops are held in the Small Hall room of Vuosaari House and in the nearby forests of Vuosaari. Those registered for the workshops receive more information about the assembly places before the course starts. WHEN? Saturdays at 10.30–11.45. Dates: 22 August, 29 August, 5 September, 12 September, 19 September, 26 September, 3 October, 10 October, 24 October, and 7 November 2026.
